Assorted AMPS Outboards

AMPS motors found out there…

Mystery Boat

A cool novelty item, considering it has a hole in it on a stand. Nice Sea Fury motor.

Kyosho Mini-Z Formula Boat

The Kyosho Mini-Z Formula Boat is a legendary micro-scale watercraft that brought the high-performance engineering of Kyosho's famous Mini-Z Racer cars straight into the water.

Originally released in the mid-2000s, this palm-sized boat is highly sought after by collectors and hobbyists today due to its unique mechanics and scale realism.

Notable Variants & LegacyKyosho released a few striking, factory-painted replica hulls for this series, including:Tamoil No.43: Modeled after the iconic Formula 1 circuit boat liveries.Ligier Sports No.17: Another classic open-cockpit racing design.

Because these boats have been out of production for quite some time, finding a functioning Ready-to-Run (RTR) package or even standalone Kyosho Formula Boat Hulls usually requires browsing collector networks.

Approximately 23 cm / 9” long.

Last photo shows it could be purchased as a hull and cowl only.

AMPS / International Hobbies

AMPS / International Hobbies

AMPS was a prominent hobby company known for manufacturing classic radio-controlled (RC) boat hulls and scale outboard motors, which was sold around 1983 to a US buyer, renamed International Hobbies, and relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado.

AMPS originally produced specialized fiberglass RC boat hulls (such as the Tigershark and Veldon) and cast-metal outboard engines.

Collector Interest: Vintage kits, original outboard lower units, and factory-finished hulls remain highly sought after by collectors and RC enthusiasts.

Allyn Sea Fury

Allyn Sea Fury

The engine of the Allyn Sea Fury .049 outboard motor is based on the Allyn Sky Fury aero engine, with most parts being interchangeable. However, the crankshaft is a notable exception, as it is timed to rotate in a clockwise direction and features a drive pin on its crankpin.

Allyn Sea Fury .049 outboard motors were manufactured from the mid-1950s until the mid-1960s. Power is transmitted from the engine of the Allyn Sea Fury .049 outboard motor to a short stainless steel propeller shaft via a 3/32" diameter stainless steel drive shaft and 1:1 ratio alloy bevel gears, causing the 7/8" by 7/8" cast aluminium alloy propeller to rotate at the same rpm as the engine.

Since the Allyn Sea Fury .049 outboard motor lacks a throttle, it should only be started under load to prevent the engine from severely over-revving and risking damage. If starting the motor out of water is necessary, the needle valve should be opened approximately 2.5 turns more than its usual setting when the propeller is submerged in water and under load.

It is worth noting that early in the production of the Allyn Sea Fury .049 outboard motor during 1955, K&B merged with and bought out Allyn; while the Allyn name was retained, for a period of time the motor was marketed as the K&B Sea Fury .049 outboard motor.

Capacity: 0.048 cu in (0.784 cc) - Bore: 0.390 in (9.91 mm) - Stroke: 0.400 in (10.16 mm) - Power: 0.05 BHP @ 12,000 RPM (0.037 KW) - Induction: Front rotary valve - Piston / Liner: Steel piston / Cast Iron liner - Ignition: Glow plug (short reach) - Rotation: Clockwise - Propeller: 7/8" diameter 7/8" pitch (22.23 x 22.23 mm).
